From Barbara Gandolfo-Frady:

Dear Friends and Associates:

I am informing you that Marshall’s intellectual papers were seized by the IRS and will be up for public
auction soon. I am hoping that they may stay intact as a collection in a Southern University, preserving
his legacy for many generations to come — to study his writings. The contact for this event is below.

There will be a 2 or 3 day viewing of the papers already in library archival boxes — over 120 in all, though still to be itemized out. I have a list of what they briefly contain, as well as knowing what material is in what boxes. There are original manuscripts, many pieces in longhand before being typed; graded essays from high school and college; reporter notebooks filled with quotes from Billy Graham, Lester Maddox, Gov. George Wallace, Jesse Jackson, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Jr., Gov. Jimmy Carter, etc…

Unpublished magazine pieces and scripts i.e. A New Yorker piece on Boxer Oscar DeLaHoya before he became the Golden Boy — that the then editor, Tina Brown, turned down ( telling Marshall that the New Yorker doesn’t print boxing pieces before releasing him from contract); A script adaptation of ” All The King’s Men” and Faulkner’s “The Bear” — Original unpublished stories entitled  ” A Country Home Coming” and “Moab” to name a few.

Award winning Magazine pieces from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and into the 2000’s till 2004 — Not only about issues within the US ( VietNam, Civil Rights, Heritage USA, Three Mile Island, Jimmy Swaggert — but on
the Middle East to Armenia to Southern Africa, Kuwait, Iraq, to name a few —  Award winning ABC Documentary pieces.

Anyone interested please contact myself or below, Mr. DiGregorio, for further information.
As of today’s date, no date has been set for the auction which will be on-line.

Best to all,

Barbara Gandolfo-Frady
